Women and girls need access to AIDS treatment
and protection from violence

  30 NOVEMBER 2004 | GENEVA -- Women and girls living with HIV/AIDS must have access to the antiretroviral medicines that
will save their lives, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a statement released on Tuesday. For this year's World AIDS Day, 1 December, WHO is calling on countries to set specific national targets for treatment of women and girls and to take measures to ensure equitable access to AIDS prevention and treatment services.

  Geneva - Today, World AIDS Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) is publishing three different stories of women united in the fight against violence and its tragic links to HIV/AIDS. The stories are published in a special web feature on the WHO home page www.who.int.
